Project Description
The SPV develops a rigid solar project with an installed cumulative capacity of 12.2MW, in the Prefecture of Kilkis, Central Macedonia, in North Greece.
The project has been granted with a Generation (Production) License and Preliminary Grid Connection Terms and Conditions have been defined by the Hellenic Transmission System Operator (HTSO/ ADMHE). Furthermore, it holds an Approval of the Environmental Impact Assessment has been issued.
The direct neighborhood is characterized as open landscape (no obstructions) with a very low roughness. The land of 21 Ht is private and secured with a long-term lease. No claims are pending on deeds or titles. The site does not have any environmental limitations and is not classified as ‘Nature 2000’.
The project will be connected to the 400 kV HV grid line connecting Thessaloniki, Greece with Dubrovo in FYR of Macedonia, through a new MV/UHV substation, which will be constructed to hub energy also produced by the projects of Greentop Eiriniko S.A. The location of the S/S has been identified and approved by the HTSO.
The implementation of the project will contribute substantially towards Greece meeting targets, set-forth by EU and the Paris Convention on climate change, in cutting down gas emissions by 15,061t of CO2 and 256t of SO2 per yr. Furthermore, implementation of this large-scale project will provide multiple benefits to a region in Greece where unemployment is recorded high (>40%).
